VMISBS-5521L SBus to VMEbus Adaptor

VME Microsystems International Corporation (Vmic)

The VMISBS-552IL is a high-performance SBus-to-VMEbus adapter whichincludes a two-board set and interconnecting cables. The VMISBS-552ILallows an SBus host, such as a SPARC workstation, to function as a VMEbusmaster in an external VME chassis, or, if placed in slot one of theVMEbus, can function as the only master in the chassis. The VMISBS-552ILprovides mapping registers for translating SBus slot address cycles intoVMEbus address space cycles. The user can configure the power-up defaultvalues for the Mapping Registers. Thus, when the number of mappingregions (described below) are sufficient for the application, the link iscompletely software-transparent at power-up and requires no additionalinitialization. When access to additional VMEbus address spaces isrequired, the user-defined default values in the mapping registers can bedynamically modified under program control. VMEbus Address Mapping: InA25 SBus systems, the VMISBS-552IL register space and the VMEbussupervisory and non-privileged short I/0 (A16) address spaces are mappedinto the SBus slot address space by default. In addition, three user-configurable mapping regions provide access for up to 8 MB of VMEbusaddress space each. One mapping region provides access to supervisory ornon-privileged VMEbus standard (A24) data space. Another mapping regionprovides access to any VMEbus address space, except for VMEbus blocktransfer spaces. In A28 SBus systems, the VMISBS-552IL register space, the VMEbus supervisory and non-privileged short I/0 (A16) address spacesand the supervisory and non-privileged VMEbus standard (A24) data spacesare available by default. In addition, two user-configurable mappingregions provide access for up to 16 MB of VMEbus address space each. Onemapping region provides access to supervisory or non-privileged extended(A32) data space. The other mapping region provides access to any VMEbusaddress space, except for VMEbus block transfer spaces. , * Supports A32,A24, A16, D32, D16, D8 Master(s) and * Slave(s) in the VME chassis *User-configured software-transparent default address mapping mode *Software controlled dynamic address mapping mode * Generates all VMEbussignals required of a VMEbus master
